Raised platform deck This client had two small children, no patio and a 4ft drop from the back door to the garden - the perfect scenario for building a deck. There was an existing rockery with mature plants, and a side gate which restricted the length.  The solution we came up with was an 'S'-shaped deck running from the backdoor to the side gate on the opposite side of the garden, with a central staircase.  Beyond the rockery we installed a pond with a sloping bank under an over- hanging conifer. The deck is constructed from osmose treated redwood, with trellis sides and screens.  We incorporated a higned gate to the area below to allow for storage.
